Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 and professionally referred to under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 21st, 2016, she released Pho, her first EP for the label Dreamville Records. That was the day she gained her first the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out in May of 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music to the Internet in 2012 after she dropped her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her own single Bound and her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes, on Sweat It Out on July 21 the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then was interested in having her create Rihanna reference. The announcement of her decision to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. Backseat is a song that she recorded with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October 2016, she released her first EP Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017, in which she accompanied by EarthGang. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox performed on two tracks featuring EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video came out on the 5th. In November, she released her singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then on the 13th of November, two brand new singles called No One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make appearances as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this track as a single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. In February of 2019 the music video for the song was released. The track has garnered over three million YouTube views in just one week. As a supporting act, she toured together with 6LACK in December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
